APPUNTAMENTI IN TOSCANA E FLORIDA
Ringrazio ancora i Professori Ilaria Serra ed Emanuele Pettener per avermi invitato alla Florida Atlantic University nell’ultima settimana di marzo per parlare del mio lavoro di scrittore e traduttore, partendo da Le rivelazioni del viaggio (Ediciclo Editore) per poi diffondermi sui vari aspetti di tutta la mia produzione letteraria. Questa la locandina dell’evento principale (che comprende anche l’ospite della settimana precedente, Federica Sgaggio, docente dell’Università di Galway (tra l’altro, interessante consonanza, visto che l’Irlanda è il paese più citato nel mio libro).
Presto potrò annunciare l’evento completo degli appuntamenti in Florida. Intanto, anticipo l’abstract dell’incontro “Philosophy and Geography: the Voyage of the Translator”:
“This lecture aims to be a sort of “philosophical diary” about places as sources of epiphanies and experiences of self-discovery. The discussion will touch on several countries (among which Italy, the United States, Ireland, the UK, Poland, Portugal, and Sweden), as well as the concept of spiritus loci and the languages of the lands visited; and, last but not least, the theme of multilinguism and literary translation, which is itself a form of writing.
All these are situations and activities that work on the traveler’s mind, maybe explaining the secret of Wanderlust, the insatiable “appetite for Elsewhere” that affects so many of us, and without which journeys wouldn’t exist.”
